Q:Why didn’t Okabe at least try to open the locker with the IBN5100 when he had the chance?
A:In the anime Okabe decided not to break open the locker after hearing Kurisu’s advice. In the original game though, he attempts to break open the locker with the crowbar several times only to be stopped by the police. The convergence of the world line prevents Okabe from obtaining the IBN5100.
Q: Why was Moeka codenamed M4?
A: In the spin-off comic Love and Hate of Brownian Motion 『恩讐のブラウニアンモーション』a younger FB was given the codename M2.
Also in the drama cd γ “Ankokujigen no Haido”『γ 暗黒次元のハイド』 Okabe was given the code name M3 in the γ (gamma) world line after becoming a Rounder. He then invited Moeka to become a rounder who was given the codename M4.
Q: Do the rounders all wear the same tattoo insignia?
A: Only one of the members has a tattoo. After seeing the tattoo on the man transporting the IBN5100 it was made clear to Okabe that the men loading the IBN5100 also attacked the lab.
Q: Why did Okabe take photos with his cellphone while following the IBN5100?
A: To avoid being followed the rounders transported the IBN5100 in relay. The man with the tattoo left the IBN5100 in the train at the stop at Shinjiku and another women (working for the rounders) picked up the package. Okabe ended up following the man with the tattoo and lost sight of the IBN5100. In the original game Okabe returns to the lab. He then uses the time leap machine to travel back in time to the point before the man left the train, and continues his pursuit.
Okabe begins taking photos to keep track of who picks up the package incase he loses sight of the IBN5100 again. The photos he takes are time stamped so he knows exactly which time to return to. In the original game it is explained he uses the time leap machine numerous times to pursue the IBN5100
Q: After the pursuit why did Okabe use the time leap machine after seeing Mr Braun in Akihabara?
A: In order to pursue Mr Braun’s truck he needed to rent out a vehicle. After figuring out what time and place the IBN5100 gets relayed to Okabe no longer needs to pursue the rounders, and can directly wait for Mr Braun to tail him with the rent-a-car.
Pursuit Timeline
The pursuit for the IBN5100 took place within 3 days.
13th Noon – A man takes the IBN5100 from the locker and transports it in relay, Okabe follows the relay while time leaping.
13th Evening – Okabe and Moeka pursues Mr Braun’s truck in a vehicle. The IBN5100 is brought to Mr Braun’s house at Shin okachimae station.
14th – Okabe spies on Mr Braun’s house. (In the original game Daru places a CCD Camera overlooking Braun’s house).
15th Early Morning – Okabe and Moeka pursue the IBN5100 which is driven to Narita Airport by the Rounders. The IBN5100 is flown to France.
15th Morning – Okabe and Moeka visit Mr Braun’s house.
More About Mr. Braun
Mr Braun or Tennouji Yuugo was born somewhere in Europe on March 12 1978. His parents died while he was younger. As a result he lived alone in poverty until SERN invited him to become a Rounder. July 1997, at the age of 19 he is ordered by SERN to go on a mission to Japan. A year later he loses his house and belongings due to a fire caused by his cigarette. His neighbor Hashida Suzu (Amane Suzuha) lets him board at her house. November 9 1999 Imamiya Tsuzuri gives birth to Tennouji Yuugo’s daughter Nae, and dies. At this time Mr Braun is 21 years old. Year 2000 Amane Suzuha dies of illness (In the 0.3 world line she commits suicide). August 2010 Mr Braun dies.

Q:How did Okabe use the d-mail so early in the morning before Mr Braun opened his store?
A:Okabe visited Mr Braun’s house around 7:15 in the morning before the opening of the CRT shop. No one was at the shop, and the 42 inch television couldn’t have been kept on, so it may seem as a mystery why Okabe was able to use a d-mail in the morning. However in the original game Kurisu tells Daru to set everything up. This is depicted briefly in the Anime with Kurisu holding a cellphone, which she used to contact Daru.
Q:When sending the D-Mail from FB’s cellphone the mail is being sent to M4 (Moeka), shouldn’t it be sent to the Phone Microwave instead?
A: Yes, this is one of the mistakes found in the anime. The D-mail should be sent to the cellphone attached to the Phone Microwave, which will then forward the message to M4 (Moeka).
Q: Why did FB commit suicide?
A:In the anime FB explains since he had failed, him and his family would be killed off by SERN. If FB committed suicide his family (Nae) would be left unharmed. It isn’t certain what he failed at, but it could be that his cover was blown by Okabe, and he failed to conceal himself from the lab members.
In the original game FB explains he had “completed his mission”. His mission was to find the IBN5100 and send it off to SERN.
